Our Ministries

Faith Formation Ministry

Faith Formation is an intergenerational ministry, which aims to help all of our members grow in their faith! Children are welcome at our Church School each Sunday and at our Vacation Bible School during the summer. Teens and young adults are invited to attend Youth Ministry events and Confirmation Classes and can also apply for Outdoor Ministry Scholarships. For adults, we offer a variety of Bible Studies and book groups as well as our monthly Theology on Tap Meeting which is held at 6 p.m. on the fourth Friday of each month at Espresso Bueno, right here in downtown Barre.

Outreach Ministry

At Barre Congregational, we strive to be a positive presence in our community. We provide community breakfasts every Tuesday and Saturday mornings, as well as monthly Friday night community dinners. Once a month, our members also provide meals at the Good Samaritan Haven.

At Thanksgiving, we put together and distribute Dinner Boxes to those in need and participate in the Gobble Wobble Turkey Trot 5K. We take up UCC-sponsored collections for various causes and we are actively involved in VT low income advocacy and the Church World Service CROP Walks. One of the most exciting programs in our Outreach Ministry is our Laundry Love initiative, which offers residents a free opportunity to wash their clothes at the Busy Bubble laundromat in Barre. Check out the short slideshow below to see some photos from a recent Laundry Day!

Other Ministries

Parish Nurse

Mary Ann Johnson is our volunteer Parish Nurse who makes visitations and takes monthly blood pressure checks at Coffee Hour.

Barre Congregational has twelve deacons, who make visitations to members and those in the community, serve communion, and assist the pastor.

Finance Ministry

The Finance Ministry is responsible for the stewardship of our church finances.

BCC Fellowship

Monthly fellowship and fun for men and women.

In addition to our own ministries, we host other community groups including the Boy Scouts, Alcoholics Anonymous, Strong Living Classes, and Wood Carvers meetings.
